Why Comparison is Never a Good Idea

You cannot be everything and everyone.

Did you know that there are more than 7 billion people on earth? Can you imagine, out of all of those people, how many of them are incredibly smart, talented, and beautiful? Can you imagine comparing yourself to all of them and trying to be better than them? Whew, even the thought of it makes me tired!

With social media applications like Facebook and Instagram and millions of celebrity gossip magazines and websites, it’s incredibly hard not to compare yourself to all of the beautiful and talented people in the world! Not only that, but we meet and come across so many people daily that we are basically forced to interact with many that are more beautiful, talented and smart than us in there own way.

It is a great thing to be able to interact with so many amazing people and being able to learn from them. It’s also great to have role models to look up to and grab inspiration from. However, when admiring someone and learning from them turns into jealousy and self-hate, we have a huge problem.

I come across so many people with amazing traits- amazing looks, an amazing career, an amazing mind, amazing talent, or even an amazing Instagram page! I catch myself so many times thinking “wow, I wish I could have her body” or “wow, I wish I could be that far down my career as her”. It can get really tiring thinking about everything that everyone has or is currently doing in this moment and trying to achieve the same- because, really, it’s impossible to have all the good traits and do all of the awesome things that someone else is doing! It’s impossible to be everybody

Why compare yourself to someone else, anyways? You will never be anyone else , so why waste your time and energy on something impossible to achieve anyways? All comparison does is kill- it kills your self-esteem, your confidence, your happiness and your precious time.Instead of using your time trying to be like someone else, or wishing you had someone else’s life, why not use that time to love your self? Why not use that time to focus on the present, love wherever your at, and focus on where you’re going?

Trust me, I KNOW how hard it is to stay at a place where you are 100% comfortable with where you’re at and with yourself; It’s extremely difficult not to compare yourself to others and to never wish you could be somewhere else in your life! But trust me- in order to be happy and live your life to the fullest, in order to achieve your goals, and in order to become the best version of yourself, it’s necessary to focus on YOU and only you.

So lets start taking a few moments each day to reflect on where we’re at, appreciate where we’re at, and focus on where we’re going. Let’s take a few moments each day to think about how we can be better versions of ourselves- not a better version of someone else. Let’s take a few moments every day to do the things that make US happy. Let’s stop focusing on what everyone else has and focus on all of the amazing things WE have. Let’s say thank you to God every day for the beautiful body, beautiful brain, beautiful talent, beautiful family, beautiful friends, and beautiful life he’s given to each and every one of us. Let’s start admiring others while still loving ourselves. Let’s start cheering everyone on and being happy for everyone else’s success while focusing on our own goals and success and leaning away from jealousy. Let’s start competing against ourselves rather than competing against others.

Have a lovely day babes and always remember how awesome you are!

Much love

xx
