Maca root is another one of my favorite “superfoods”, and it is a daily staple in my diet. I love adding maca powder to my smoothies, but it can also add a nice kick to oatmeal, granola, yogurt, or raw desserts.
Maca is beneficial for so many reasons, such as increasing energy, increasing libido, easing discomforts caused by menstruation, regulating hormonal imbalances, improving skin conditions such as acne, and increasing endurance. It is also useful for improving mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. As well, it is high in protein, iron, potassium, iodine, magnesium, calcium, and fiber. It really is one of the most beneficial super foods in my eyes, and I recommend using it on a regular basis. Start with 1/2 tsp a day and if you see an improvement in how you feel, you can slowly go up to a tbsp a day.
