I’m sure you all have seen me rave a bunch about essential oils, but I wanted to do a full blog post about them so I could explain my love for them in more depth<3
I discovered Doterra about a year ago through my friend Tali and immediately became obsessed! I started off with one oil and then another and then…the rest was history. I now embarrassingly own more than twenty oils, but I can’t imagine life any other way!
Essential oils have helped me tremendously in SO many ways. First of all, they have helped me in preventing illness & boosting my immunity. I eat pretty healthy and exercise on a regular basis as I’m sure you all know, but it’s so helpful to get that extra boost of immunity from using lemon, lime & wild orange oils in my water & tea throughout the day. When I have gotten sick, I’ve also made “immunity balms” using a few different oils to help me get over it quickly without using any medicine such as tylenol. I also diffuse a few different oils such as on guard which help me prevent illness & purify the air in my room as well.
Oils have also helped me stay naturally energized, joyful and uplifted. I used to turn to artificial things such as caffeine to help keep me energized & happy throughout the day, but now I just smell some peppermint, motivate, and wild orange to maintain my positive energy. It sounds crazy that just smelling something like an essential oil can change your whole mood, but it really really does! I can’t even explain how much putting on essential oils and smelling them alters my whole mood.
I used to be OBSESSED with perfume, but I recently learned how toxic & unnatural the ingredients in them are, just like in deodorant. I now only use natural deodorant and essential oils instead of chemically-filled perfumes & deodorants. I have so much fun creating my own feminine, beautiful-smelling oil blends and they also last so much longer than perfume! They save you a bunch of money too 😉
Most importantly, essential oils have helped me GREATLY with reducing anxiety. Copaiba is my favorite, since it’s super similar to CBD. I take 2 drops under my tongue a few times a day and I also rub it on the bottom of my feet. There are so many others such as lavender, peace, balance, vetiver, siberian fir, forgive, & console that I carry around with my everywhere and feel immediate peace when I smell or rub on my neck. Aromatherapy is a form of meditation, and simply smelling a peaceful scent can immediately bring you into a state of calm.
There are other ways in which I use essential oils, such as to cook with, for skincare, & for brain health; it really is endless! I just wanted to give you guys a quick introduction to why I use oils/ what I use them for, but I’ll be doing separate posts next month on specific oils and there uses. <3
