Let’s Talk Alcohol

So, you all know that I’m all about balance, and for me that includes having a drink once or twice a week. I definitely go through phases when it comes to alcohol- some months I’m really not into it and other months I feel like I need a drink or two when the weekend comes to relax from the crazy week I’ve had. I try to stick to wine, beer, and champagne (Brut Rose is my fav ever), but when I go out for a fun night with friends I’ll have some tequila, whiskey or vodka.

The reason I don’t like to go out and drink too often is because of the way it makes me feel the day after. I hate feeling lazy and sluggish the next day, especially when I have so many things to do and workout classes to attend! It definitely slows me down from accomplishing my goals, which is why I don’t do it too often. When I do though, I make sure to detox the day after so I can go back to feeling my best.

One of my favorite things to use is Flyby, which is a capsule you take right before drinking or right after to help prevent hangovers(or at least make them more manageable) and help you detox your body from alcohol. Your liver breaks down more than 90 percent of the alcohol you consume, aka meaning that your liver is under a ton of stress when you consume more than a glass an hour! If you DO have more than this (which lets be honest, when you’re out dancing with friends it’s pretty hard not to), alcohol-induced toxins end up building up in your body and put more stress on it. That’s where Flyby comes in- it’s scientifically formulated to support liver function, replenish nutrients, and metabolize toxins so you wake up feeling better.

Flyby is completely natural, which is why I love it so much. It contains liver hydrolysate, Vitamin C, milk thistle, Alpha lipoic acid, n-acetyl-l-cysteine and dihydromyricetin which are all put together in a formula made by a Biochemist, meaning that it’s scientifically proven and not just another gimmicky pill sold on the market.

Flyby doesn’t completely make you feel like new the next day if you’ve had a lot to drink the night before, but it does help a ton. I used it after a night out with my girlfriends last weekend and the next day I felt way less sluggish and had no hangover symptoms (other than being tired because I barely slept). I also just felt better knowing that my body was getting rid of unnecessary build up toxins and that my liver wasn’t working as hard!

Other than Flyby, what really helps me is sticking to low-sugar drinks. Some of my favorites are:

  • vodka soda with lime or lemon
  • whiskey with a little bit of gingerale
  • tequila with some grapefruit juice and sparkling water
  • vodka with a touch of cranberry juice and sparkling water
  • vodka or tequila with ginger kombucha and lime
  • straight up tequila shots with lime and salt 😉

I also make sure to drink a ton of water in between drinks and after since alcohol is super dehydrating! Most importantly, I eat a big, nourishing breakfast the next day to make sure I’m filling my body back up with nutrients.
